Glenn Wilberding, age 82, of Elma, IA died Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at his home in rural Elma.

Glenn Henry Wilberding was born on November 5, 1928 to Anthony and Marie (Vanderah) Wilberding on a farm near Haverhill, IA. Glenn moved with his family in 1942 to a farm near Alta Vista. He attended St. Williams High School in Alta Vista graduating in 1946. He helped on the family farm before joining the US Air Force. After Glennís return from the military he was united in marriage to Marie Lechtenberg on June 2, 1953 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, IA. To this union 10 children were born. Glenn and Marie farmed near Alta Vista for 15 years before moving to their present farm one mile north. The couple enjoyed 57 Ĺ years of marriage. Glenn also worked as a security guard at Sara Lee in New Hampton for 21 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, tinkering on the farm and playing with his grandchildren. Glenn was a member of St. Bernardís Catholic Church and the Alta Vista VFW Paul Johann Post #4069.

Glenn is survived by his children; Cyril (Ruth) Wilberding of Riceville, IA, Sue (Mike) Whalen of East Bethel, MN, Deb (Tim) Grover of Pleasant Hill, IA, Pat (Chris) Praska of New Hampton, IA, David (Kathy) Wilberding of Adams, MN, Gary Wilberding of Elma, Barb (Kraig) Hultman of Des Moines, IA, Brenda Wilberding of New Hampton, Jenny (Randy) Burke of Elma; 22 grandchildren, Stacey Wilberding, Luke Wilberding, Barry Wilberding, Amber Nevland, Kim Whalen, Ryan Whalen, Emily Bainter, Abby Grover, Matthew Grover, Nick Praska, Ted Praska, Katy Kuehn, Amy Becker, Matthew Wilberding, Tammy Frank, Jacob Wilberding, Jessica Wagner, Megan Hultman, Kayla Hultman, Joshua Stringer, Jayden Burke, Marina Burke; and great-grandchildren, Morgan, Brady, Samantha, Vanessa, Claire, Grace, DJ, David, Madilynn, Michael, Jonah, Emma, Makinley and Mason; one sister-in-law, Angela Schilling of Wausau, WI and one brother-in-law, Robert (Jovina) Lechtenberg of Lawler, IA.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Marie; his daughter Judy Kay Wilberding; his brother, Cyril and stepmother, Emma.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 13, 2011 with a 4:00pm rasoary and a 6:00pm scriptural wake service at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma. Visitation will continue at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday.

10:30 am on Friday, October 14, 2011 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Alta Vista, IA with Father Ray Atwood celebrating.

Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Alta Vista with Stacey Wilberding, Ryan Whalen, Matt Grover, Nick Praska, Joshua Stringer and Matt Wilberding serving as casket bearers. Military rites will be provided by Alta Vista VFW Paul Johann Post #4069.
